The UK is increasing the number of people vaccinated by giving the second injection 12 weeks after the first.

Vaccination against AstraZeneca started in major UK hospitals early Monday morning.

Brian Pinker, a dialysis patient, received the first injection of the AstraZeneca vaccine at Oxford University Hospital.

The UK government explained that just days after vaccination began in several large hospitals, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be available in hundreds of locations across the country.

The UK has signed a 100 million vaccine supply contract with AstraZeneca, and outlets like Reuters and The Times say AstraZeneca will supply the UK with 2 million doses per week by the middle of this month.

The AstraZeneca vaccine came about a month after the UK launched the world’s first Pfizer vaccine on the 8th of last month.

In the UK, more than 1 million people have already received the Pfizer vaccine.

The UK has decided to extend the vaccination interval from 3 to 4 weeks to 12 weeks in the future to vaccinate more people.

Rather than delay the second dose, the strategy is to make sure as many people as possible get the first dose.

The first vaccination alone creates some immunity, so increasing the number of vaccination targets can prevent the spread of the virus more quickly.
