“If I lose the electoral vote, I will leave the White House.” US President Donald Trump, who continues to fight the results of the November presidential election, was the first to speak about the possibility of leaving the White House.
He said he would admit to losing the loss in the electoral body vote on the 14th of next month (local time). There is concern that the fight against the objection will continue until early next year.
President Trump held a video conference to encourage US troops stationed overseas on the 26th, as the Thanksgiving holiday began, and then asked and answered questions with reporters, expressing his thoughts on their future. When asked if he would leave the White House if he loses the electoral vote on the 14th of next month, he said: “I certainly will. You know.” In this regard, some media, such as Reuters, evaluated that President Trump made the most aggressive comments suggesting that he won the elections after the presidential ones.
However, in the comments that follow, President Trump expects a dramatic reversal in the electoral body vote scheduled for next month on the 14th, and the likelihood that his fight against his dissatisfaction will continue until just before the inauguration of the new president in January next year is increasing.
Representatively, he said, “There will be a lot from now until January 20 next year” and “the electoral group that takes Joe Biden is making a mistake.”
In the United States, which is adopting the indirect election system, the electoral group assigned to each state casts the vote based on the results of each state’s victory in the national elections held on the 3rd. For example, in Michigan, where 16 electoral votes were conducted, Biden-elect wins by a slight margin, so all 16 electoral bodies must vote unconditionally for Biden-elect in the electoral body vote, even if they personally prefer President Trump. In the past, some electoral groups ignored the results of the national elections and voted for their preferred candidates, but were stopped by a federal Supreme Court ruling. However, President Trump sent an unspoken message to all 538 voters, who will be confirmed weekly next month, saying, “It is a mistake for the electoral group to take Biden” on this day.
In next month’s constituency vote, if there is a deviation from the constituency that should vote for Biden-elect, the Supreme Court will once again fight for validity to seize a reversal opportunity. To this end, just before the presidential election, President Trump appointed Amy Connie Barrett, a former Conservative Justice in her 40s, as the new Supreme Justice.
In this sense, on the 25th, the United States Supreme Court ruled against the executive order of the State of New York to limit the number of attendees to religious events to prevent the spread of Corona 19. `It played a role. New York State tried to limit the number of worship service goers to 10 in the corona19 risk area (red zone) and 25 in the least dangerous area (orange zone), but 5 people, including Judge Barrett, decided that the executive order was unfair. They are all justices of the Supreme Court appointed by the Republican administration.
The existing Supreme Court precedent regarding this case was that taking steps to restrict religious gatherings to an appropriate level to address the public health crisis cannot be seen as an act of violation of religious freedom under the constitution. The New York Times (NYT) reported that Judge Barrett was instrumental in changing the case. President Trump shared the news of the Supreme Court ruling on his Twitter that day, writing, “Happy Thanksgiving.” Furthermore, when the mainstream media reported that they highlighted the words “I will leave the White House” among all their comments, they emphasized on Twitter that “what I mean is that this presidential election has been fabricated and I have won.”
