Kings’ Richaun Holmes breaks the NBA bubble for food delivery

The rumors of bad food in the NBA bubble must be true.

Richaun Holmes has just been quarantined for dinner. The Sacramento Kings forward announced Monday that the NBA quarantined him after he left the Disney World bubble to pick up the food delivery.

“After the initial quarantine period, I briefly and accidentally crossed the NBA campus line to pick up a food delivery,” Holmes wrote in a statement. “I am currently in quarantine and I have 8 days left. I apologize for my actions and look forward to meeting my teammates for our playoff campaign. “

Another violation of the NBA bubble

Holmes is the second player to be quarantined after breaking the boundaries of the NBA bubble. Houston Rockets forward Bruno Caboclo reportedly “inadvertently” burst the bubble and has been quarantined inside his hotel room for eight days.

It is unclear if Caboclo was also looking for an update on the NBA bubble menu.

Holmes key for kings

Holmes was in the midst of a breakup season before a ripped labrum on his right shoulder closed it in January. The fifth-year forward averaged 12.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting 65 percent from the floor through 39 games.

Assuming he can return, he will play a key factor in Sacramento’s fight to climb from 11th place to the playoffs. The Kings are one of four teams within four games of eighth-place Memphis Grizzlies in the West.

Breaking the bubble could come with discipline

NBA players entered the bubble last week to prepare for the season’s scheduled restart on July 31. The fate of the end of the season will depend on the integrity of the bubble. That means keeping COVID-19 out of the bubble at all costs.

The NBA Bubble Safety Manual outlined disciplinary procedures for players who break the protocol.

“Failure to comply or refusal to comply with the Protocols may subject a player to disciplinary action by the NBA or his team, which may include a warning, fine, suspension and / or expulsion from campus,” the memo read. . Repeat offenders may be subject to improved discipline. Player challenges to any disciplinary action will be accomplished through the CBA Complaint Arbitration process. “

It is not clear whether Holmes will face any discipline. If this happened while the games were playing, Holmes would be forced to sit back and lose the game controls.

The NBA announced Wednesday that two players tested positive at 322 while in initial quarantine upon reaching the bubble. Since then they have left the bubble to isolate themselves. Those players have not been identified.
