Kelly Clarkson, Josh Groban and more help raise $ 700K for the Angel Food Project’s Emergency Fund COVID-19

Virtual performances by Kelly Clarkson, Josh Groban, Annie Lennox, CeeLo Green and more during a KTLA telethon helped raise around $ 700,000 for the Angel Food Project’s COVID-19 emergency fund.

The “Lead with Love: Project Angel Food Emergency Telethon” program, which aired on KTLA 5 on Saturday night (June 27) from 7 to 9 p.m., raised around $ 701,000 through Sunday, according to the website of the project, where donations are still welcome.

“Lead With Love” was presented by KTLA’s Jessica Holmes with Sheryl Lee Ralph and Eric McCormack and also featured brief appearances by various stars, including Elton John and husband David Furnish, who encouraged viewers to show their support.

“We have always worked to ensure that the world’s most vulnerable people are protected and cared for with love and compassion. We have supported Project Angel Food through [Elton John AIDS] before the foundation, and we are proud to support ‘Lead With Love,’ “said John.” For those who watch from home, Project Angel Food urgently needs your help to keep doing what they do: serve others. “

Musical performances included Clarkson (with a cover of U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”), Groban (“Lullaby”), Lennox (“Walking on Broken Glass”), Green (“Lead Me” ), Billy Idol (“Be a lover”), Kristin Chenoweth (“Angels among us”), Deborah Cox (“The greatest love of all”) and Juan Pablo di Pace (“Without you”).

The Angel Food Project was first launched in 1989 in response to the HIV / AIDS epidemic and, 30 years later, continues to serve the diverse community of Los Angeles during the coronavirus pandemic. The organization has been cooking and delivering medically personalized meals, free of charge, to people with life-threatening illnesses who are at high risk for COVID-19. For the past two months, Project Angel Food has been serving 2,000 people every day.
