That’s the question we’re asking ourselves tonight, as The CW announces that the Riverdale spin-off, which offered double what can be done, you can do it spirit and road less of the elaborate murders, of the Archie-show of reverse signature: is being canceled.
In fact, it seems Katy Keene will be the only cancellation on The CW schedule this year, not counting programs already headed for scheduled departures, a development that likely has more to do with how difficult it would be to get new programs on the spot than any overwhelming confidence in their (notKaty Keene) production board. Most network programs (including parenting series Riverdale) will receive a delayed return starting early next year, while the network fills its list of imports and other things already filmed during the months of production interruption.
None of which is already a concern for Katy KeeneAs aspiring fashion designer Lucy Hale is now forced to leave the stage of history, along with Riverdale refugee Josie (Ashleigh Murray), his friend Jorgi (Jonny Beauchamp, in what should have been a stellar performance), and the rest of the charming cast of the brave newcomers from New York show. Series co-creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa praised the one-season series on Instagram earlier today, sharing his appreciation for its cast and crew:
