Cassidy Gifford is paying tribute to two very formative men in her life who are now gone: Regis Philbin and her father Frank Gifford.
“The laughter I know the two of you are sharing in heaven again is palpable … I love you forever, Reeg ❤️,” Cassidy, who married in June, captioned the post.
In the image, former NFL star Frank, who died in August 2015 at age 84, and Philbin hug each other while smiling at the camera.
Throughout their years on television, the two became an iconic couple, known for their playful jokes and genuine connection on the show.
Upon learning of Philbin’s death, Kathie Lee shared a poignant post about her colleague and lifelong friend.
“There are no words to fully express the love I have for my precious friend, Regis. I just adored him and every day with him was a gift,” she wrote on Instagram.
“We spend 15 years together joking, arguing and giggling, a tradition and friendship that we share to this day. I smile knowing that somewhere in heaven, right now, he is making someone laugh,” she continued. “I am very comforted to know that she had a personal relationship with her Lord that brought her great peace. I sent all the love of my heart to Joy, her children, the rest of her family and the countless people she touched. About her legendary life There has never been anyone like him. And there never will be. “
“We sit here on my porch and laugh out loud, we always pick up right where we left off,” she said, explaining that she and Philbin had become “dear friends” even after leaving the show.
