Kate Middleton made a touching remark about Princess Diana in her interview before Prince William sweetly replied, “No one can fill my mother’s shoes.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made the remarks during an interview after the couple announced their engagement on 16 November 2010.
After years of dating and endless speculation, Kate, now 38, and William, also 38, officially announced that they were getting married.
Shortly afterwards, the couple sat down for an interview with journalist Tom Bradby about their relationship.
During the interview, Kate was asked by Mr Bradby: “You will probably join this family, the most famous royal family in the world.
“William’s mother was this massive iconic figure. The most famous figure of our time, is that worrying? Is that intimidating? Do you think about it, you, especially Kate, of course?”

Kate replied: “Of course I would love to have met her and she is obviously an inspiring woman to look after.
“Of course on this day and you know ahead and things, you know it’s a wonderful family. The members I’ve met have achieved a lot and you know very inspiring and so, yes, I do.”
William then added: “However, there is no pressure. There is no pressure, as Kate said it is about cutting your own future.
“No one will try to fill my mother’s shoes, what she did was fantastic. It’s about creating your own future and your own destiny and Kate will do a very good job of it.”
The couple, who have since welcomed three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, then revealed details about their engagement, which happened on holiday in Kenya.
William said: “We had a little private time away with some friends and I just decided it was the right time.
“We talked about marriage a while ago, so it was not a massively big surprise. I picked her up somewhere in Kenya and I proposed.”
He added: “I had been planning it for a while, but since every man will know out there, it takes a certain motivation to get yourself to battle.
“That I was planning and then I just felt really in Africa. It was beautiful at the time. I just … I had made a few plans to see my romantic side.”
Kate admitted that she “actually did not expect everything”.
“It was a total shock when it came, and very uplifting,” she said.

William confirmed that he proposed to Kate with the blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring of his late mother, which he had worn in a backpack for three weeks.
“I thought it was pretty fun because she apparently would not run around to share one of the fun and excitement of it all – this was my way of keeping her kind close,” he said.
“It’s beautiful,” Kate admitted.
Later in the interview, she was asked if she had been nervous about meeting the Queen.

She said: “I first met her at Peter’s wedding and autumn and again it was among many other guests and she was very friendly and no, it was good.”
William added: “She was very welcome, she knew it was a big day and everything happened with Peter and autumn. She wanted to meet Kate for a while, so it was very nice for her to come over and say hello and have fun. a little conversation. “
Meanwhile, last month the Duke of Cambridge revealed the worst gift he had ever bought to Kate Middleton when she was dating her – and she never let him forget it.
William told the Peter Crouch podcast how he almost ruined his relationship with Kate by buying her a pair of scammers during one of her first dates.
After ex-Premier League striker Crouch confessed to buying his model wife Abbey Clancy a three-year-old raincoat, William said: “I once got my wife a couple of scams – she never forgot me.
“That was early in the courtroom that was – remember the deal was sealed.
“It did not go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her some scavengers. It seemed like a good idea at the moment.”
