British royalty has very active social media accounts. They share images of their various charitable engagements and mark milestones like birthdays and anniversaries with portraits and celebratory messages.
But these Instagram posts don’t come from personal accounts; rather, they are published by accounts linked to the location of their home: for Prince Charles and Camilla, that is Clarence House; for the Cambridges, it is Kensington Palace, or a more general name in the royal family that represents the Windsor in general.
The assumption is that posts on these identifiers are written by spokespersons or social media personnel, not by actual members of the royal family. But every once in a while, a member of royalty takes over and signs the publication with his first initial. For example, Prince William sent a series of personal messages to the England World Cup team in 2018.
“You wanted to make history at @England and you are doing exactly that. This has been an incredible #WorldCup race and we have enjoyed every minute. You deserve this moment: Football’s Coming Home!” he remarkably wrote, signing the tweet simply, “W.”

And now, it appears that the Duchess of Cambridge has logged into the Kensington Palace Instagram account and is leaving “C” signed comments on photo submissions to her Hold Still photography project.
A few weeks ago, Kate launched the image-based initiative in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery in hopes of capturing the UK’s mood during this difficult time.
“Stay still “It captures a portrait of the nation, the spirit of the nation, what everyone is going through right now,” said Kate.
The deadline for submission has passed, but Persons recently noted that Kate has been personally commenting on the posts on Instagram for the past few weeks.
“I love this! What a budding photographer!” she wrote on this photo taken by 4-year-old Coni.
