[Spoiler alert: Ben’s arc and ending in The Umbrella Academy Season 2.] The Umbrella Academy fans were pleasantly surprised when Ben Hargreeves (Justin H. Min) got more screentime in the second season of the show. Ben – aka Number Six aka The Horror – died during a mission when the Hargreeves siblings were teenagers. However, his connection to Klaus Hargreeves (Robert Sheehan) could influence Ben’s story – to a limited extent.
In The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Ben and Klaus were able to reach new heights together. Although this eventually led to his final death – sort of. The last moments of the character set a cliffhanger in for the third season, which has yet to be updated by Netflix. But nonetheless, Ben’s end came as a shock to everyone, especially Min, who actually thought he was out of a job following his demerit of the alter ego on screen.
What happened to Ben Hargreeves in ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 2?

Due to The Umbrella Academy Season 2, Ben learned how to interact with the world in new ways. For one, he could possess Klaus’ body to talk to his crutch. Then Ben came into “743” with the success of Vanya (Ellen Page) when she was tortured by the FBI via an electric chair. He convinced his sister that she was not alone and prevented her from exploding the building, which would have led to the end of the world.
Still, Ben changed his life to save Vanya. As it turns out, Number Six was able to move on after his death. But he was too scared at the time. So he stayed with Klaus for 17 years. Then, in Vanya’s mind, Ben realized he could not return, even as a ghost, and would be forced to continue.

“I died 17 years ago,” Ben said. ‘All this, these years with Klaus, it was all juice. At least this time I’m going to say goodbye. ”
Yet it was not really farewell. At the end of The Umbrella Academy Finals of season 2, the six remaining Hargreeves siblings returned to April 2, 2019. As expected, they saved the world from the apocalypse. But they shook up their own timeline.
Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) was not dead and he claimed he was not even the adopted father of the Hargreeves. Meanwhile, the Umbrella Academy was replaced by the Sparrow Academy, led by a very different – and very alive – Ben.
How Justin H. Min Found Out Ben Was Not Dead in ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 2

In an interview with E! News published in August 2020, Min revealed that he did not know Ben would be in again The Umbrella Academy Season 2 finale. So when the actor filmed his final scene for “743”, he really thought that the bow of his character was coming to an end.
“I really had no idea this was going to happen,” Min said. ‘They keep us all in the dark with the final scene of our season, until the very end. That we actually had a rough concept of episode 10. But that last scene was omitted. ‘
He added, “What’s crazy is that when I shot that scene with Vanya in episode nine, I actually thought it was going to be the end of Ben and the end of this character. Like said, Netflix has yet to update The Umbrella Academy Season 3. But the end of Ben in the second season leaves the door open for another round.
“The Ben we meet at the end of the 10 is physical,” Blackman told Cinemablend in August 2020. “He’s from the real world, and he’s someone I think we’ll know if there’s a season 3.”
While it’s likely that Ben who died and the new Ben at the end of the second season will feel very different if and when the Netflix series returns.
“I think [Ben’s] forces could be quite similar. But in terms of everything else, he is completely different, ‘Min told IGN, noting intentional changes in Ben’s appearance, from his hair to his scars. ‘We’ve all discussed ways to make and feel him as different as possible.
