Josh Donaldson (Calf) not on the Minnesota Twins roster for the AL wild-card series

Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson is not on the club’s roster for the American League wild-card series against the Houston Astros due to a calf injury.

Governing A.L. The central champion twins released their 28-man roster on Tuesday, hours before their series opener in Minnesota against defending league champions Astros.

Donaldson missed the last two games of Minnesota’s regular season this past week due to a strain in his right calf. But the former AL MVP took up batting practice at Target Field on Monday, providing optimism that he will be in lineup for Tuesday afternoon’s game.

Donaldson, 34, is listed in the Minnesota taxi squad, meaning he could replace the injured player in the best-of-three series.

Twins utility man Marvin Gonzalez will start from the third base on Tuesday and will bat ninth against his former club.

Donaldson struggled in the injured first season with the Twins and he batted in just 28 games with six home runs and 11 RBIs. The four-year-old with the three-time All-Star Minnesota is in his first year of 92 million.

Alex Kiriloff, ESPN’s No. 63 outfielder, created the Twins’ postseason roster for the 2020 season. He will become the third player to enter the MLB in the postseason.

Astros outfielder Chas McCormick, who has just started MLB entry, is on Houston’s roster.

The report was contributed by ESPN’s David Schonfield.
