Jon Jones poses a $ 100,000 challenge to future UFC champions

Jon Jones does not think anyone will come close to breaking his records set as UFC lightweight heavyweight champion – and he’s ready to bet.

Jones (25-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC), who announced Monday that he has been challenging for the 205-pound title he has consistently held since 2011, is challenging every future champion to complete six consecutive defenses. The reward: a donation of $ 100,000 to each charity the fighter has to choose.

Jones wanted to challenge fighters to break his record of eight straight defenses of the UFC title, but he did not think it would be a realistic task.

“Was going to challenge a light heavyweight to beat my world championship record, but we all know that this is unlikely to happen in this life,” Jones wrote on Twitter.

The 33-year-old UFC star said he intends to move to the heavyweight division now that he is leaving his belt. He pointed to productive talks with the UFC brass following his announcement about vacancy, and it appears a deal could be made to see him jump a weight class.

Jones cited lack of pay for his desire to relinquish his 205-pound title. This comes after months of public dispute with UFC President Dana White over his contract.

“Bones” last fought in February at UFC 247, where he defeated Dominick Reyes in a controversial unanimous decision.
