Joe Rogan flees Los Angeles for ‘more freedom’ in Texas – RT USA News

Comedian Joe Rogan, host of the popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience,” has confirmed his plan to move to Texas from Los Angeles at some point to escape crushing traffic, increased homelessness, and overcrowding.

The fact that he also saves millions of dollars in taxes was not disclosed. “I just want to go somewhere in the center of the country, somewhere it is easier to travel to both places and in a place where you have a little more freedom.” Rogan said Friday on his show, which ranks second in the United States on Apple Podcasts.

He added that Los Angeles is riddled with traffic jams and other problems stemming from overcrowding, making it impossible to run effectively: “I don’t think it’s manageable. Every mayor does a great job of doing it because I don’t think anybody can do a great job of it. “

However, radio host Chris Plante pointed out another key reason why Rogan would want to move to Texas: money. California has some of the highest taxes in the country, including a maximum income tax rate of 13.3% on income over $ 1 million. Texas has zero state income taxes.

Rogan landed a $ 100 million license agreement in May with Spotify, which will begin airing its show exclusively on September 1. The show will no longer be offered on Apple Podcasts or posted on YouTube. Your tax savings on the Spotify contract alone could exceed $ 10 million.

Rogan currently has more than 8 million YouTube subscribers, and his podcast is downloaded approximately 190 million times per month. He also does stand-up comedy shows.

Rogan said he has not decided where he will live in Texas. Both your residence and your business will be relocated to the state. It will join a massive exodus from the state. More than 86,000 Californians moved to Texas in 2018 alone, the latest year for which data is available, according to a report by the Texas Realtors business group.
