Joe Budden hosts one of the most successful music-centric podcasts in the world. He’s fully immersed in the world of podcasting and, two years ago, he broke into a strong market by signing exclusively with Spotify. Unfortunately, their partnership just did not work out, because, after Joe asked for a pay rise, the streaming service did not offer enough to get him to stay.

The latest episode of the podcast explored Joe’s frustrations with Spotify over his contract negotiations, claiming he was “undermined and underestimated”. He added in a statement to Variety that he will not post after September 23 where his podcast will be hosted.

As the working relationship between Joe Budden and Spotify ends, the streaming giant has issued a statement about Joe’s departure.

“It was our wish to keep Joe Budden on Spotify. When Joe referred to his show, we made him a great offer – one that was significantly larger and many times the value of the existing deal and reflecting the current market “Unfortunately, we could not agree and we respect his wishes to find a new home for his show,” a Spotify spokesman said.
