MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After three days of competitive quarterback drills at the 22nd Annual Elite 11 Final, Michigan 2021 quarterback commit JJ McCarthy He left with new life skills in his development as a general person.
Sure, he competed with the best quarterbacks in the country. But McCarthy says his main focus of the event is his ability to use his platform as a star quarterback to make the world a better place.
“It wasn’t what I expected,” McCarthy said of his Elite 11 experience. “It wasn’t what I agreed with. But it’s not about that. It was just about developing and learning the skills off the field and learning the emotional intelligence everyone is talking about, and the real reason we played this game so that we can have such a big impact on the world. And really use our platform to make a difference in the life of any child, any adult, anyone who needs to know what should be good in this world and what should be good in this world. And it was really revealing to know that all these quarterbacks are fair, we are all family. And it was really cool to make these connections with all the quarterbacks and it was a really fun experience. “
Since he got engaged to Michigan in May 2019, McCarthy says he has already seen the impact of a simple tweet on Twitter. She realizes the power her reach has on social media and wants to use her network to make an impact as she can.
“I know the impact I just based on the following, and everything I have done led to this point, and I will do everything in my power to do what is possible to make this world a better place,” he said. McCarthy on the impact of being a Michigan quarterback. “And using that platform will be a really special tool for me.”
That said, McCarthy acknowledged that he felt “100%” that he belonged to fellow elite quarterbacks who attended. However, he was quick to notice that pitching at a camp is a different environment than a game day.
“We are all, we all have talent. We can all wear shorts and a T-shirt, ”said McCarthy. “And what is going to separate us is when we put our pads on and play on Friday night, Saturday night and even Sunday. So it was good to feel this whole camp and get back to racing, but we all know that when the pills are put in, it’s the real deal.
McCarthy begins to come true when he travels to his new school, Bradenton (Florida) IMG Academy, on July 9. His entire team will feature the talents of Power Five and will head to the crash as the number 1 team in the country.
“I am extremely excited. I mean, being at IMG will give me an opportunity to be the best I can be and it will bring out the best version of me and teach me a lot, ”McCarthy said of IMG. “And I’m going to learn a lot more about a complex environment that lives alone and being surrounded by children that I haven’t been working with for years. So it will be nice to have that college feel. “
McCarthy says that his future coach, Jim Harbaugh, fully compatible with movement to IMG.
“I mean, he’s been supportive the whole time,” said McCarthy of Harbugh. “And that is the type of person that is and understands the opportunities that IMG is going to give me and is really excited about that.”
