Jim Carrey spoke about his personal life in his new book “Memories and Misinformation,” which offers details on his past relationships.
The 59-year-old actor reportedly refers to his ex-girlfriend Renee Zellweger as the “great love of my life.” The couple dated after reuniting on the set of “Me, Myself & Irene” in 1999, but separated in December 2000.
In a new interview with Howard Stern for his radio show on Tuesday, Carrey admitted, “She was special to me, very special. I think she is charming.”

Stern then asked if the two-time Oscar winner, 51, was the one who ran away. Carrey replied: “I don’t regret it, I don’t have those things. But I do appreciate the people who have gone through my life for the good they gave me … but I don’t encourage anyone. It is not that kind of situation. It’s just my way of saying, ‘There was something very important there,’ and recognizing that. “
Carrey previously told Entertainment Weekly that she felt an immediate “chemical” connection to Zellweger, but she didn’t realize her feelings until the movie ended.
“It was something unexpected and wonderful,” said the “Bridget Jones’ Diary” star in June 2000. “It was a really natural thing to want to be close to each other. And we didn’t see each other for a few months after we finished the picture, or we even talked, and I noticed his absence significantly. It just felt like ‘Wow, I really miss him.’ “
Carrey was married to Melissa Womer between 1987 and 1995 and they share a daughter, Jane. He then married Lauren Holly from 1996 to 1997. The “Mask” star also dated Jenny McCarthy from 2005 to 2010, the late Cathriona White in 2012, and most recently actress Ginger Gonzaga in 2019, but the two separated.
