John was an all-star high school footballer and his brother believes that the heavy hits he endured on the field had a major impact on his health later in life.
“He was a middle linebacker,” Jim said. “I know he had brain damage.”
Jim thinks his brother is suffering from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, commonly known as CTE. John turned to alcohol and drugs to self-medication, leading to his death in 1982 from a drug overdose.
“In the ’70s, if they knew what we knew today about marijuana and its healing benefits,” Jim said. “I think my brother John would still be alive.”
Jim claims that he did not enter the cannabis growing business to make money, but rather to help others. “I did it to feel purposeful in my life,” he said. “And this is an opportunity to be successful with something that has been healed.”
