LOS ANGELES: Jennifer Gray, the actress who starred opposite Patrick Swayze in romantic drama Dirty Dancing, will star in a sequel to the classic 1987 film.
The news was announced by the film’s production house.
Gray will also serve as executive producer on the film, which will be directed by Warm Levies director Jonathan Levine, said Jon Feltheimer, chief executive of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.
“It’s just going to be the kind of romantic nostalgic movie that franchise fans have been waiting for,” Feltheimer said in an interview with industry analysts.
The company did not provide details about the plot of the film as to when it would be released.
In the original film, Gray Frances played Baby Houseman, a teenager who is slapped with a dance instructor (Swayze) while on vacation at a resort in New York in the 1960s.
Swayze died in 2009 at the age of 57 from cancer.
