Jeep Wrangler 2021 receiving additional updates to fight the Ford Bronco

For the first time in years, there will be a legitimate competitor to the Jeep Wrangler in the United States in the form of the revived Ford Bronco. To keep the Wrangler 2021 competitive, it is supposed to receive more standard features, according to Mopar Insiders citing information from dealer sources.

Motor1.com contacted a Jeep spokesperson to officially confirm these details. They said, “I can’t comment on the report.”

To enhance off-road capability, the base Wrangler Sport trim now gets the Selec-Trac full-time all-wheel drive system from higher grade models, instead of the existing Command-Trac system. The Rubicon now has the standard Off-Road Plus system that adjusts the throttle, transmission shift points, and traction control. As an option, the Sahara and Rubicon can get a forward-facing camera for a better view when rocks are being dragged.

The Tech Group that typically sells for $ 995 becomes a standard feature at the Sport S trim level. It includes a 7.0-inch infotainment display and automatic climate control. Any model with a 7.0-inch display also receives selectable tire fill alerts that allow the owner to set a pressure by putting air on the tires, and the horn sounds when each reaches that level.

While this additional team should bolster the Wrangler’s competitiveness, it’s hard to imagine the new Bronco not being a huge success when the SUV launches. All the signs so far indicate that the model offers unconditional off-road capability with a tinted retro look that evokes the original.

Like the Jeep, Bronco buyers have a choice of two- or four-door body styles. They are removable and even the upper part comes off.

Power for the Bronco supposedly comes from turbocharged four and six cylinder engines. The gearbox options would be a ten-speed automatic and a seven-speed manual with an ultra-low drive gear for off-road use. Expect technology like differential lock to be available too.
