Jarvis Landry admits that his hip rehab suffered emotionally and physically before Bye and is still recovering.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Browns receiver Jarvis Landry, who turned 28 on Saturday, admitted Friday that his long journey from hip surgery took a physical and emotional toll, but he now feels better after decompressing during a bye three weeks ago.

“I had to go close to 0-60 weeks a week, after which I was reforming, training and practicing and making sure I made the season,” Landry said. ” Landry said. “Mentally, I was overweight, not just physically fit. I was able to improve, I guess you can say, with a little bit of bye and take my body to a better place, but still not where I want to be. ‘

The road to health really started during the 2019 se fisson when he suffered a fracture sacrum which kept him away from the se fisson program. The fracture eventually healed, but the hip injury flared up and worsened in training camp. He held most of the camp and rarely practiced throughout the season.

However, he did not lose a game for the sixth year and posted career highs in 2019 in achieving yards (1,174) and yards per reception (14.1). Yardge was the fourth in the club’s history and marked six touchdowns. The best rank of his career. He also voted for his fifth straight Pro Bowl and preferred to play in the game and not undergo surgery.

But a hip flare during the game after a three-week severance, and Landry changed his mind and underwent the procedure in February, which included cutting off some cartilage and removing two bone fragments embedded in the la la brom of his left hip.

He soon began a 6-8 month rehabilitation with the goal of returning to the field for the opener in Baltimore seven months away. With strong willpower and determination, Landry achieved his goal by keeping alive his favorite series of never losing a game in his career. In the 5th week against the Colts, he suffered two torn ribs on the third game of the game when he went for a 32-yard catch, and went to the side. But he later returned six plays and finished the game with more than 0 snaps.

Landry missed two fourth-quarter passes, but never considered coming out of the game. He played three more games in pain – and before he had a chance to recover on the bye, and left three more passes in the loss to the Raiders.

The season has also been challenging for receivers as the Browse initially showed this run and are now playing in three straight bad-weather games that mostly cause air strikes. Going into Week 12 with the Pro Bowl turnout, Landry is ranked 48th in the NFL with just 38 receptions and 46th with 471 yards. He is still waiting for his first touchdown catch.

Last week, he played 38 snaps for 57%, but it was more about the pouring rain than defending his body.

“I only think about our employees and how we try to attack in the weather,” he said. “With the run game, we felt like we had more advantages in the single-receiver set. We wanted to make sure we were able to run the ball in that weather and only threw the ball when we had to. On some plays, it was a good mix of guys who go into the sole receiver so there are no instincts. At that point in that game I am, Khadrell (Hodge) or Higg (WR Rashard Higgins), we just have to mix it up to keep the defense balanced so they don’t know when to go out to run or pass. ”

Landry is exactly with Kevin Stefans ski plan so he is ready for whatever he wins.

“Listen, I want to get on the field in every game,” Landry said. “But we try not to have instincts and we try to make sure we turn the boys in, even if it can hit me in the situation or it can hit someone.” Allows that eventually something with him wants to run things blocked. It’s something we don’t even want to create a true instinct with so it feels like a mix of boys playing during that time. “

In Jacksonville on Sunday, where the forecast is being called for 75 degrees and a 25% chance of rain, the Browns are hoping to show off their skills more than the performance of the players, especially compared to the injury-free secondary.

Landry knows the offense will have to help him spend the day in Jacksonville, with Miles Garrett, Sion Takitaki and Porter Gustin, Covid-19 and Denzel Ward in defense. It was a challenging week to see a teammate after the second test positive for the virus.

“I don’t think anyone’s been going through a year like this,” he said. “We’re just rolling with the punch.”

On Thursday, Landry had a great afternoon with his family – Australia and their two children Joy and Jay and reflected on his troubled year.

“Just be grateful and be grateful,” Landry said. “Life is a blessing. I have a lot of people – I’m sure people on this call and people around the world – lost in the blink of an eye. It’s a tough thing. You look at life and no matter what you are going through or struggling with, you realize you have another chance and another day.

“It is a blessing, and I am grateful for it. I am thankful to be able to share that with my family every day. Then to come here and be a part of this organization and to share with these boys whom I also consider family, I am just thankful, and I am blessed. ”
