White House adviser and son-in-law Donald Trump Jared Kushner confirmed a recent meeting with rapper Kanye West, but he said they had a “general conversation” about “policy” instead of the rapper’s presidential bid.

Mr. Kushner’s revelation of the meeting, held while both were in Colorado, came after a report that Republican activists and operatives in at least five states supported the candidacy of the long shot of the White House.

That Washington Post report suggests that some Republicans support Mr West’s bid in state figures with significant swings with the aim of taking votes from presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Mr. Kushner called Mr. West a friend for a decade, noting that he supported some of Mr. Trump’s policies.

Mr. West once appeared in the Oval Office and delivered a confusing diatribe while wearing a “Make America Great Again” ballad. Mr. Trump sat figuratively behind the Resolute Desk while Mr West went through and through.

The West’s campaign has filed petitions to appear on the ballot in 10 states, some of which have not been sufficiently found by state officials.

Mr. Trump trains Mr. Biden in almost every swing state that is expected to decide the election. The race is also neck-and-neck in places that have been GOP-bellied for years, and which Mr. Trump won in 2016.

That list includes Florida, Texas, Ohio, Georgia and North Carolina.

No credible poll has polled voters on a three-way race including most popular entertainers, however.
