Yukio Kiuchi, who won the Koshien Tournament three times in total at Joso Gakuin (both Ibaraki) as a high school baseball coach, died on the 24th. He was 89 years old.

The cancer had spread to the whole body and he was fighting the disease at home. Recently, metastasis to the lungs caused a hole in the lungs, making it difficult to speak well and leaving a weak voice. I used to communicate with the supporter by tracing the letters on the chest and palm with my fingers.

Students were contacted, saying, “I can’t go out when I enter the hospital, so please come see me now.” It is said that Mr. Kiuchi also repeatedly mentioned the names of his students who were worried about his bed.

Mr. Kiuchi was born on July 12, 1931 (Showa 6) in Tsuchiura City, Ibaraki. In Tsuchiura Ichi, he is a mid-level captain. After graduating, he dropped out of college and became a coach at his alma mater. He became a director in 1993. He moved to Handle 2 in 1981, and in the summer of 1984, he defeated PL Gakuen (Osaka), who owns the “KK combination”, and took the first win. In September of the same year, he became the manager of Joso Gakuin and won the championship at Senbatsu in 2001 and the summer of 2003. He returned to coach in the fall of 2007 and continued to command until the summer of 2011. Koshien has 40 victories. and 19 defeats.
