The iPhone 12 Pro Max was bigger than I expected and the iPhone 12 mini was smaller (comparing the actual size of all models)

[ad_1]

As I said earlier, this article only talks about the size of the iPhone 12 series. We have posted a number of significant reviews on the Japanese version of Engadget, such as the differences in functions between each model, so we hope you will read them together.

The iPhone 12 | 12 Pro (6.1 inch) has already been released, but at the same time, the larger body “iPhone 12 Pro Max” and the smaller Face ID model “iPhone 12 mini” are available. It will be on sale on November 13 (pre-orders have started on November 6). Now that we have all the machines to hand, I would like to re-examine the size of the entire iPhone 12 series.

▲ From below, Max, Pro, unmarked, mini packs. If you pair two 6.1-inch models, the box will also be large, medium, and small from the bottom.
▲ From left, Max, Pro, unmarked, mini. iPhone 12 | 12 Pro are the same size but slightly different in weight

▲ Max is the biggest iPhone ever and the mini is the smallest iPhone with Face ID.

iPhone 12 Pro Max has more presence than I expected

The iPhone 12 Pro Max, as the name implies, is a larger version of the iPhone 12 Pro, but the camera’s shooting capabilities are even more powerful. The screen size was 6.7 inches and the actual weight was 226.5 grams (the official value is 226 grams), which is about 40 grams heavier than the iPhone 12 Pro.

▲ Color and design are the same as iPhone 12 Pro. This is gold. Only this color is colored by a technique called “microwave coating”. It is a method used for finishing the color development to the end, and it is said that strength, etc. it will not be different from other models.
▲ You can see the size has increased compared to the larger iPhone 11 Pro Max (right) so far, both weighing the same 226 grams
▲ iPhone 12 Pro Max measures 6.7 inches and 2778 x 1284 dots, 11 Pro Max measures 6.5 inches and 2688 x 1242 dots.
▲ The impact received from the screen is naturally higher than that of 12 Pro Max. There is no feeling of immersion. However, since the edge is stationary, it is a little difficult to grip in the original state, but you may be used to …
▲ Comparing 12 Pro Max and 11 Pro Max, the 11 Pro Max has a rounded edge, which makes it easier to place in the hand and gives a more compact impression.
▲ Actually, when I put 11 Pro Max in the 12 Pro Max case, there are quite a few gaps so it’s not a big deal, but it’s getting bigger.

IPhone 12 mini as light as a leaf

The first impression of the iPhone 12 mini was “small! Light!”, Although the influence immediately after picking up Max cannot be denied.

▲ You can easily hold it with two fingers. The color and design match that of the iPhone 12, the back is smooth glass, and the area around the camera is matte.
▲ Camera specifications are the same as iPhone 12 (right), actual weight was about 132.7 grams, about 30 grams lighter than iPhone 12.
▲ An example of filming with a camera. Enough for taking pictures of everyday life.
▲ You can see that the main body is smaller than the 4.7-inch second-generation iPhone SE (right), but the display area of the screen is large. Since it is an organic EL, the image quality is clearer

Well, what size to choose

The iPhone 12 series has four options (plus each color variation): the 6.1-inch or 5.4-inch unmarked mini, and the 6.1-inch or 6.7-inch Max Pro.

▲ Camera shooting function is the same for iPhone 12 and mini, and for Pro, Max has more functions like zoom magnification and sensor-type camera shake correction (see other Engadget reviews for more details).

If you are a geek, you will probably choose the top of the list, so other than size, Max will be your choice. Also, I think Max on the big screen is the best option for those who have a hard time seeing up close.

▲ 12 Pro Max has a larger screen than 11 Pro Max (right). Once you experience this power, you may not want to go back to the smaller screen …

Each person has different size requirements, such as wanting to use it with one hand or carry it in a pocket or small clutch. Especially in Japan, small iPhones are popular, so I think the mini will be a big hit.

▲ From left, 12 6.7-inch Pro Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 12 (Pro), and 12 5.4-inch mini. I have a big hand, but I can only hold it firmly and touch each corner of the icon up to 6.1 inches …
One-handed movement input is limited to 6.1 inches … Max is heavy and scary to drop, so “use with both hands” is the basics
▲ It looks like this when a woman with a small hand takes it. You said mini is good
▲ It seems that small bags are popular, so the mini looks great as a fashion item (the photo is attached to a genuine leather case).

For those who are still concerned, it is nice to target the center safely, but why not buy Max and mini and use them correctly? Looking at all the models, there are a lot of people who say that.
