Hokkaido 1-Month Forecast For Large-Scale Snow Season
In the next month, it is expected that there will be many days with a winter-type pressure distribution. The temperature will be high, but cool air is likely to get in temporarily. We have summarized the forecast weather characteristics based on the latest one-month forecast.
Week 1 (October 31-November 6) News of the first snow one after another?
Today (29), the Sapporo District Meteorological Observatory announced the outlook for next month. From tonight until tomorrow morning, the cold air in the sky will intensify and there is a risk of snowfall near the pass. Even on flat ground, there are places where the snow mixes and the first snow of this season can come, mainly inland areas like Asahikawa.
Also, from Tuesday 3 to Wednesday 4, the cold air that is stronger than the cold air coming in tonight is expected to flow into the sky. Therefore, on the Sea of Japan side, there seems to be a place where snow accumulates slightly even on flat terrain. Even in Sapporo, if there is no observation from tonight until tomorrow, it seems that the first snowfall will arrive at this time.
2nd week (from 7 to 13 November) Winter tires for now!
There will be many days when the pressure distribution will be winter-like. There are many cloudy, rainy, or snowy days on the Sea of Japan side, and the weather on the Sea of Okhotsk side changes every few days. On the other hand, the Pacific side is expected to have more sunny days.
In general, the temperature is expected to be high, but the cold air in the sky is likely to temporarily intensify and snow will accumulate even on flat ground. At this time, it may be a good idea to finish your winter preparations early, such as changing tires.
Week 3-4 (Nov 14-27) It’s very cold
It is anticipated that there will be many days when pressure distribution will continue to be winter-like. The Sea of Japan side will have many cloudy, rainy, or snowy days, and the Pacific side will have many sunny days. The temperature is expected to be roughly the same as normal, and since it is expected to be higher than before, it seems to give the impression that it will be much colder. Be careful about fitness management and clothing selection.
In normal years, it is also the time when large-scale snowfall begins, mainly on the Sea of Japan side. Driving on the winter road for the first time in the season can lead to unexpected problems due to unfamiliarity. Maintain a greater distance between vehicles than when driving in summer, and try to drive safely by slowing down steadily when cornering. Also, I think it’s good to take steps like making a plan to leave with plenty of time.
