Former Chiba Mayor Toshihito Kumagai (43) delivered a speech at 11 locations in the northwestern part of the prefecture and the city of Chiba. Rie Kanemitsu (57), a member of a civic group, gave a street speech in his hometown of Funabashi and Narashino. He criticized that “the corona measures are ineffective both in the national government and in that of the prefectures” and emphasized that “anyone who wishes can receive a free PCR test.” He also called for the improvement of the welfare policy and insisted on the expansion of facilities for the elderly, improved treatment of staff and free school lunch and teaching materials. “I want to use the abundant financial power of the prefecture to protect the lives and livelihoods of the citizens of the prefecture,” he said.
The former Masayuki Seki prefectural assembly (41) toured the city of Chiba. As a candidate for the PLD’s recommendation, he emphasized that “the governor cannot move politics alone. It is necessary to cooperate with the prefectural assembly, the municipalities and the country to make the policy a reality. My strength is the ability to make it a reality. “We will deliver the new corona vaccine to those who need it as soon as possible,” he said. Local elected parliamentarians and councilors also made a desperate appeal to passersby, saying: “The candidate comes, knowing his personality.” The election campaign ended with a speech on the street in front of the Chiba station.
Voting will take place in various parts of the prefecture from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm on the 21st. By noon on the 20th, 65,804 people had voted before the deadline for the governor’s election (an increase of 326,612 compared to the same period last time).
