Hiroto Ohara, who continues to win from round 1 to 1st place

The second day of the main race of the “2nd Japan Open of Surfing” which is held at Tsurigasaki Beach (commonly known as Shidashita) in Chiba has ended.
Main Round 2 and Round 3 will take place today, and 8 players, 4 men and 4 women, will advance to Round 4, which will be a consecutive semi-final.
Additionally, the losers’ recovery battle has progressed to rounds 1-3, with a total of 16 men and 8 men each connecting their hopes for the final day tomorrow.

Four people who are doing well from day one advance to the semifinal in 1st place

Shidashita, the venue, maintains the Koshi-Mune swell as yesterday, and starts from the women’s second main round at 7am.
Mahina Maeda, who appeared in the first heat, passed 1st place with a total of 12.07 points including 8.17 points. The third round of the next three-person series also improved to 1st place and advanced to the semi-final.

Mahina Maeda in good shape

Also, in the first series of Round 3, three people who became Japanese national team players at the WSG (World Surfing Games) in Miyazaki last year credited it.
Following Mahina Maeda, Sara Wakita, who had two 4pts, moved up in second place, while Matsuda Magazine, who had difficulty picking waves, rallied in third place.
In the second heat of Round 3, Minori Kawai and Minami Nonaka advanced to the semifinal.

Minori Kawai, who has gradually improved, goes to SF past the top

Also, in the guys who also advanced to the main round 3, the strength of Hiroto Ohara and Reio Inaba stands out, who can be said to be the winning candidates of this tournament.
Reio Inaba, who appeared in the first heat, passed 5.33 in the riding immediately after the start, 6.27 in the second full rotation, and a total of 11.60 points in the early stages to pass 1st place.
Hiroto Ohara, who appeared in the second heat that followed, gradually raised the gear, and the rear maneuver that raised the spray enormously in the final half of the series was 8.17 points, totaling 13.80 points, both in first place. Four people, including Nagisa Matsubara and Takeshi Amuro, advanced to the semifinals.

Reio Inaba’s Full Rotation Air
“I’m still around 38% (!?), I want to raise it towards the final.”
Hiroto Ohara, who gave off the highest heat today
“I’ve been looking back at my surfing with Corona and preparing to score on any wave.”
In main round 2, Takeshi Amuro made a reverse round with an aerial backhand just before the end, the next round 3 also won and advanced to the semi-final

From the play-off to the grand final

Along with the progress of the main round, the “Repacharge” losers recovery battle, which “ends if lost”, also progresses to round 2.
While Ryu Ito, 3rd place at the 1st Japan Open, Hinako Kurokawa and Koi Hashimoto, representatives from WSG Japan in 2018, have been eliminated, both men and women have strong players and are aiming to advance to the Grand Final. Kana Nakashio, who scored 13.50 points for the girls’ highest heat score today, and 12-year-old Miki Ikeda, were also looking forward to the final day tomorrow.

Japan’s representative for the 2018 ISA World Surfing Games, Hinako Kurokawa, is woefully defeated

Of the 24 boys and 23 girls, 12 men and women stayed on the last day.
Moving on to tomorrow’s Grand Final, only one winner will be able to clinch the final spot on the Japan National Team at the 2021 ISA World Surfing Games and connect the way with the Japan National Team at the Tokyo Olympics.
