Alexander Albon, who started in sixth place, dropped to seventh place at first, but returned to sixth place again due to Guthrie’s retirement. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who is in front of him, made an early pit stop aiming for an undercut, and in response to this, he pitted on lap 14. Kubiat, who was running immediately after Arbon, also made a pit stop, and the two returned to the field in sixth and seventh place.
Imola is known to be difficult to overtake, but Felstappen continues to pressure Bottas. Then, on lap 43, Bottas slightly went off the track and lost his position, and Felstappen, who rode with Tambrero without losing the gap, moved up to 2nd.
After overtaking, Felstappen showed a pace comparable to Hamilton’s, but while being blocked by Bottas, he had a lead of more than 10 seconds and seemed to stay second behind the goal, but suddenly the right rear tire blew out and retreated. As a result, the safety car is shipped. Arbon opts to stay on the track, but Kubiat enters and switches to soft tires.
Although he restarted with 6 laps to go, Kubiat took advantage of the soft tires and passed Sergio Pérez (race point) and Arbon. Raise the position to fifth. Arbon tried to avoid Perez’s attack while the tires were cold while driving in the safety car, but sadly he spun and fell to 15th at the end.
