DF Tatsuya Masushima full-time retires

Jeff United Chiba DF Tatsuya Masushima retired from active duty on the 20th in the final round of the J2 league against Gilavants Kitakyushu (2-1). Masushima, who announced through the club before the game, started for the first time in two games. After the game, he cried and ended his 17-year active life.

Masushima joined FC Tokyo in 2004 from the mighty city of Chiba, Funabashi High School. He played for Vanforet Kofu in 2007, Kyoto Sanga FC from 2008 to 2010, and fully relocated to Kashiwa Reisol from 2011. After transferring to Vegalta Sendai for a limited time in 2017, he joined the local Chiba starting in 2018. With 19 goals in 337 games in the J League, he has participated in 72 league games in total in Chiba.

On this day, Masushima shed tears when he heard the whistle at the end of the match with former Japan national team FW Hisato Sato, who became the last match. After the match, a retirement ceremony was held with Sato and MF Yusuke Tasaka. Masushima said, “I actually told the team at the meeting this morning that I would retire,” he revealed that it was a sudden announcement and explained the reason why he made the decision.

“Thank you for preparing a wonderful ceremony despite the sudden report. Many people prepared and today I was able to be in the field. I still want to retire when there is news of leaving the group. I was looking for another team because I did not feel like it, I was so frustrated this season that I didn’t want to retire. I decided to retire in. I have been in various teams for 17 years, and with the support of various people, today I am celebrating this day. I want to go. I want to meet again somewhere in a different way.

In the end, the companions and the family presented a bouquet. Masushima, who supported the finish line with many teams, took off the spikes surrounded by local fans.
