There is no tournament that attracts more “first graders” attention than this Hakone Ekiden.
Ryuji Miura (Shuntendo Univ.), Issei Sato (Aoyama Gakuin Univ.), Shotaro Ishihara in the summer competition finally held in the crown disaster, All Japan Incare in September, and All Japan University Ekiden held on November 1. Three people (Tokai Univ.) Marked the new section.
Not only them, but other universities as well, there was a strong tendency to count first graders as a force.
The strongest generation.
However, the reality was not sweet.
1st Ward Miura (Shuntendo Univ.) “For a career in which you can take advantage of your weaknesses”
Expectations for Miura increased in Hall 1. Miura has the second highest record in Japan with a 3000m hurdle and is a talented person who aspires to the Olympics. I was unable to participate in the Japan Championship in December due to a breakdown, but the quiet race in Japan’s first district and the sharpness of the last streak were brilliant. Even in Hakone Ekiden’s qualifying session, he has proven himself to be the best Japanese and has adapted to the Hakone distance.
However, he was unable to get involved in the section award contest in the final stage and finished in 10th place in the section.
“I was expecting a slow pace, but I wasn’t expecting a slow pace to that point. I couldn’t keep up in the second half, and it ended up being a race where I was able to take advantage of my weaknesses.”
I don’t know how much practice was missed due to the glitch, but it was Hakone’s debut match with incomplete combustion.
2nd Ward Matsuyama (Toyo Univ.) “Running in the international student section”
“Hana no 2 Ward” is now turning into an international student section, but Kazuki Matsuyama from Toyo University showed a terrible career. The time was 4th in the 1 hour 7 minutes 15 seconds section, beating the records of Ren Tazawa (Univ. De Koma) and Ryota Natori (Univ. De Tokai), and raised the overall ranking to 5th. It is only with this Matsuyama race that Toyo University came in second on the exit route.
In fact, when I saw the order from Toyo University, when I saw Yusuke Kodama, a second grader in the first ward, and Matsuyama in the second ward, I thought for a moment, “Is this a future change?” But when I saw that Matsuyama was running, I think I saw the nourishing power of Toyo University again.
The motto “Get out that second” is definitely inherited by first graders.
“Light and Dark” by Ishihara (Tokai University) and Yoshii (Chuo University)
Shotaro Ishihara from Tokai University shone in the third pavilion.
