In 2020, the number of earthquakes with a seismic intensity of 1 or more observed in Japan reached 1704. It is slightly more than last year, but it is the second lowest in the last decade. There were 163 earthquakes with a seismic intensity of 3 or more, 7 of which were of seismic intensity of 5 or less. There is no earthquake that observes a seismic intensity of 6 less, which is the first time in 3 years since 2017.

As for the number of earthquakes per month, the highest number was 213 in May. The number was 96 times in November.
