Rakugo artist Konpei Hayashiya (Hayashiya Konpei, real name Mitsuo Kasai = Kasai Mitsuo) died of aspiration pneumonia at 2:02 pm on the 17th. He was 77 years old. He was the typical good artist who loved liquor, was popular with women, and also liked bakuchi. He was a dynamic and unconventional person, but he felt lonely and would often gather people to drink.
When I married Paruko in 1972, Ebi’s mother (Mihira’s first Mrs. Kayoko) asked me to accept the moderator. Although he was a great salesman, he did so without receiving any money. You are a good senior. The disciples also raised (Hayashiya) Taihei, a wonderful storyteller.

A long time ago, there was a cabaret called Star Tokyo, and my teacher, Mihira, told me that Konpei-san, who was in the billboard era, was working part-time on a cold night in the parking lot opposite. You did the best you could, right?
Since Mihira appeared regularly in a Japanese drama in Yurakucho, Hayashiya Jinpei and Hayashiya Manpei from the same one-year period from Konpei-san were working together to create a mystery. With the set “Rare / Kon / Ten thousand” (laughs). Speaking of mystery, Konpei-san and his teacher, Mihira, also trusted him.
It was the last time I saw him at Toden Rakugo’s party two years ago, but he looked good. He was happy to be in a good mood playing table tennis with Master Koyuzo. I can still see him holding a table tennis racket.
