[Shanghai = Hakusan Izumi]Trial of three people, including Democratic activists Zhouba and Huangno Feng, accused of inciting and organizing an unauthorized demonstration around the police headquarters during the anti-government demonstration in Hong Kong last June. He was in Hong Kong court on the 23rd, and three people were imprisoned without being granted ransom. All three have been convicted and will be sentenced to prison on December 2.
Mr. Zhou is called the “goddess of democracy” in Japan and is the first to be imprisoned. He was arrested in August on suspicion of violating Hong Kong’s National Security Act (National Security Act) for threatening national security in collusion with foreign powers, but was in a ransom situation.
Before the trial, the three held a press conference and told their supporters: “I am ready to be imprisoned. I will not flee from this difficult time even if I am incarcerated. It will be more difficult outside, but everyone must do their best.” He called for the continuation of democratization activities.
Since participating in the 2014 large-scale “Umbrella Movement” rally, Zhou and his colleagues have been a symbol of young people seeking democratization in Hong Kong. Mr. Huang was in prison until June last year on charges related to the umbrella movement.
In late June this year, Hong Kong enforced the National Security Law to strengthen control. As the crackdown on democratic activists mounted, Huang continued to deliver a speech criticizing the Chinese government.
