On the 18th, the Ibaraki prefecture confirmed that a group (a group of infected people) had occurred in the city hall due to the fact that several officials of the city of Tsuchiura were infected with the new corona virus.
The city hall is connected to JR Tsuchiura station by a pedestrian platform, and is close to Sakuramachi, where clusters occur in various restaurants.

According to the city, three new employees were found to be infected that day, bringing the total number of infected people to 18. Six people are hospitalized and one is in a mildly ill center.

In response to this, it was announced that on the 18th the PCR test began for more than 500 people for staff including special positions such as Mayor Mariko Ando and the city council. The total number of staff members who have been inspected so far is 700.

Until now, most of the infected people were employees working on the fourth floor of the city hall, but on the third floor, a new man in his 50s was found to be infected. The number of infected people on the 3rd floor is the second and there is a possibility that the infection will spread in the future.

On the 18th, the city disinfected the entire government building and the adjacent city board of education at once. Under the direction of the Tsuchiura Prefectural Health Center, it was decided to close the windows of Section 7, such as road and sewer construction on the 4th floor, where a large part of the infected staff is located, until the end of the month, and continue operations by exchanging telephone calls.
