The characteristic is that it uses the “Mosseye technology” used in LCD televisions and AQUOS (some models like the XL9 series).
In AQUOS, by using Moseye technology on the surface of the liquid crystal panel, the reflection on the panel was largely suppressed and helped to improve the contrast sensation of the displayed image, but in the product this time it released, a film that prevents splashing. It uses Moseye technology on the surface. As a result, it achieves higher anti-reflective and anti-fog performance than conventional films, and always maintains a clear view. Also, when combined with a light and strong titanium frame (FG-800 / 500/300 series only), it has a high design and ease of use, and differs from general face shields.
Additionally, Moseye technology was adopted in AQUOS from 2012 to 2014, and Moseye-equipped models were not released after the UD20 series. With this face shield, Moseye technology has been adopted into products for the first time in approximately 6 years.
The lineup includes a face shield that covers the entire face with film, an eye shield that covers the area around the eyes, and a mouth guard that covers the mouth and nose. As for the face shield, we will also prepare a model with a resin frame to keep the price low.
The titanium frame used in the FG-800 / 500/300 series is manufactured by Sabae in Fukui prefecture. The film is manufactured in Sharp Yoneko’s clean room and all models are said to be high quality “Made in JAPAN”. There is no difference in performance between the films included in each type.
Moss eyes are characterized by an uneven structure of nanometer size (100-200 nm) that resembles the eyes of a moth that can fly even in the dark. In principle, these fine irregularities continually change the index of refraction of the external light and eliminate the interface causing the reflection, thus achieving low reflection.
In addition, it maintains a low reflectance for a wide range of light, from short wavelengths to long wavelengths. The film is said to be finished in a natural color with little coloration.
In addition to low reflection performance, it also features “anti-fog performance” that prevents fogging. Using a newly developed special ultra-hydrophilic acrylic resin for the face shield on the surface of the moth eye structure, the fine uneven structure increases the surface area of the water droplets. Then the water droplets that adhere to the surface are immediately dried and, in many cases, cloudiness can be avoided.
Also, high transmission performance is achieved by using polycarbonate, which is also used for CD / DVD light guide plate and liquid crystal backlight, as the base material of the film. By combining it with moth eye processing, it is possible to maintain high transmittance over a wide range of wavelengths, making it clear and less tiring, and visibility can be maintained.
Furthermore, since Moseye has an extremely fine irregular structure, it was previously noted that “it is difficult to remove oily fingerprints and maintenance is difficult.”
Regarding the durability of the face shield, company staff said: “If you wipe it with a soft material such as a towel with rubbing alcohol to disinfect, dirt and fingerprints can be wiped off. Also, even if you repeat cleaning a 1,000 times, the durability of the moth eye is maintained. We have confirmed that it is done. It depends on how it is used, but it is easy to maintain and durable. ”
Mr. Issei Oura, who was in charge of the face shield design, also took the stage at the recital.
About product design “Wearing masks and face shields in work and life has become commonplace, and infection prevention has become a culture now. However, when these infection prevention items are consider “products”, design and fashion As a product designer, I wanted to make a proposal that sanitary and infection protection equipment would be fashionable: the material and shape of the shield, the fit of the frame and the line of the user’s face. I designed it with attention to detail, like making it look neat. ”
