Max Felstappen (Red Bull Honda) dismissed rumors that his relationship with the team appeared to be deteriorating like “shit.”
On Friday the 2nd, Honda announced that it would end F1 activities for the 2021 season only, but after that, Felstappen realized that Felstappen had stopped following the official Honda and Red Bull Instagram accounts. Rumors seem to have started that his relationship with Red Bull and Honda must have deteriorated.
When asked about the matter by his native Netherlands, Formule 1, Felstappen called the rumor “bullshit” and continued:
“Actually, 90% of the news is.”
“I’m sick of all the ads (sent to my smartphone). I’ve always been tagged with videos and things like that. And I already want to see F1 on my smartphone. I just didn’t think
Felstappen also said he was not particularly surprised when news of Honda’s retirement from F1 was announced. Besides feeling that “the moment is coming,” he said that he was informed before the official announcement was made.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen next, but I’m not even thinking about it, because there is a long way to go.”
“I hope I can get the engine, otherwise I will have to step on the pedal and run the car like Flintstones (animation).”
Felstappen, 23, who made the joke, added:
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but that’s not bad. I’ve always learned a lot from the engine suppliers I’ve worked with in the past.”
