Mercedes F1 Luis Hamilton won the 2020 F1 World Championship Round 9 Tuscany F1 GP. The total number of wins has been increased to 90.
Luis Hamilton, on pole position, retired to second at the start when teammate Bartelli Bottas took the lead. However, when he regained the lead by restarting after the red flag, he controlled the race after that and posted the fastest lap.
With his seventh win of the season and lap 90 overall, Michael Schumacher’s number of F1 wins is close to “1”.
“Today was the most challenging day I have ever experienced, both physically and mentally. To be honest, I’m pretty tired, but it feels great to win such a crazy race,” said Luis Hamilton.
“I’m a bit groggy and I feel like I’ve run three races a day. It was incredibly difficult. The track was amazing and Bartelli pushed hard so it wasn’t an easy race at all.”
“All the restarts required concentration and it was very difficult. The first outing was not very good and Bartelli took the position, but the second went well. I was able to regain my position. Since then I have been building a comfortable Adon Vantage, but then the red flag. I don’t know what will happen with a restart like this, but luckily on the last restart I made the best start to the day and was able to stay in position. Bartelli was so close that I couldn’t make any mistakes. I was straight and in a place where I could get ahead of myself easily.
“I am deeply grateful to the field and factory personnel for their hard work to make this result possible. It is a great circuit and I want to return in the future.”
