Lake Inayo where an accident occurred on the high seas
The city called to refrain from bathing in the lake due to the influence of Corona
“People float on the lake.” Around 11:00 on September 6, 2020, when a large number of leisure guests came out on a sunny Sunday, there was a call from 119.
According to media reports, a boat operated by the father of a Chiba prefecture boy set out off the coast of Nakatahama on Lake Inayo, and his family was swimming in life jackets.
There, they were caught in another passing pleasure boat, and families were taken out one after another on another family’s water bike or on another guest’s boat. However, the child has already died and is floating and may have been caught in a screw. The child’s mother (35) and the child’s friend (8) were taken to hospital with serious leg injuries, and the child’s brother (10) was also slightly injured.
The ship that caused the accident is said to have been driven by a man and departed from Nakatahama Marina. It is said that 10 people were on board this ship.
According to the Aizu Wakamatsu City Tourism Division, the lake beach in Nakatahama will be open from July 20 to August 20 each year. However, in 2020, the lake’s beach was not opened due to local opposition concerned about the spread of the new corona virus, with the department calling for it to refrain from bathing in the lake.
Why were the families involved in the accident swimming out to sea?
On the 7th, the deputy director of Aizu Wakamatsu Station told J-CAST News about this point.
In Nakatahama, the prefectural ordinance stipulates that the shipping area is “more than 300 meters from the coast.” According to the Fire Command Center of the Aizu Wakamatsu Regional Fire Department, the crash site was about 150 meters east of Nakatahama.
It is not clear whether the accident occurred inside or outside the ship’s navigation area, but the deputy station manager Aizu Wakamatsu said: “If it is outside the ship’s navigation area, the ship should slow down. I have not yet identified the speed. boat speed, but I think that’s the point of the investigation. ” It is said that he did not drink or drive without a license.
At the time of the accident, the wind was strong and billowy, and the waves were high when it got too far from shore, so boats and the like tended to run close to the beach. It’s easy to see from the boat if you’re wearing a life jacket, but it can be hard to see if it ripples, so it seems it’s still unclear under what circumstances the accident occurred.
