Red Bull F1 hasn’t been on the podium at Monza since the beginning of the hybrid era. Team representative Christian Horner thought that this time he would be able to surpass previous results, the first time since 2016 to reach the final without engine penalties, but in qualifying, Max Felstappen was on the fifth grid in three rows. “I don’t think this track has historically been a solid track for us, but I’m surprised that it performed better than we expected in the last two years,” commented Christian Horner.

The tires are softer than those of the F1 Spanish GP and the British GP, and will be the same as those of the 70th anniversary GP where Max Felstappen achieved his first win of the season.

Christian Horner also said he was unsure whether Red Bull Honda would benefit from the changes to its technical regulations.
“I really don’t know. For us, it’s not a big change from qualifying to the race, so hopefully it won’t be affected too much.”

As the word goes, Mercedes dominates the front row even without qualifying mode. Carlos Sainz (McLaren) is in third place, Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) is in fourth place, and Land Norris (McLaren) and Daniel Ricardo (Renault) are behind Max Felstappen.
