Red Horn Honda F1 team representative Christian Horner recalls qualifying for the 2020 F1 World Championship Round 7 Belgian F1 GP.
Red Bull Honda F1 advanced to Q3 with Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon together in qualifying for the F1 Belgian GP. Max Verstappen was third with a gap of 0.015 seconds from second, and Arbon was fifth.
Max Verstappen will start the final on medium tires that gave the best time in Q2 qualifying, and Arbon will start on soft tires one row behind Verstappen. However, if it rains at the beginning of the final, the impact of tire selection may lessen.
“Today there was great teamwork from the drivers and they have given us good results for the team. 3rd and 5th, very close to the front row,” said Christian Horner.
“Max is only 0.01 seconds behind Valtelli (Bottus), which gives me confidence on this course that I know I can overtake. Mercedes has the lead in qualifying, but we weren’t very good at it. It was a good Saturday with a long truck getting so close. ”
“The two strategies are slightly different, with Max starting on medium tires, Alex starting on soft tires. This gives us more options and of course Spaweather is unpredictable. There is always a possibility, because I don’t know what happens with tire degradation. ”
“It would be difficult to attack Mercedes, but Max is a true fighter pilot. Alex is great to have around too.”
