“Overall it was a positive weekend and I thought it would be very difficult to come here, but actually it was a good result to get close to Bartelli (Bottus) and finish third. The lap was not bad, of course I have always been attentive to the fastest car and I am 5 seconds behind by a comma, but I think I have been closer to Mercedes in qualifying this season. It’s not the type of circuit I’m good at, but I’m very happy with this result. I’m looking forward to the race right now. I don’t know if it’s wet or dry, but if the weather changes during the race. It’s great to drive this circuit in qualifying and it’s also very exciting in the race, but it will be special when it comes to weather conditions like last year’s Hockenheim. I have been able to take good steps and I hope to have a good start now and I want to attack Mercedes and get the best results again.
Alex arbon
“I’m happy with 5th place, and tomorrow is all. I think there was a possibility of 4th place, but I made a little mistake at the entrance to Turn 1 of the last race and lost a bit of time. My best lap was in the Q2 and I’m happy with some room for improvement, but it’s a much smoother weekend than ever and the car feels good right after the start of FP1. Not much has changed since then. I’ve been making time adjustments and adjustments so far and it has been a positive weekend so far. With a different strategy, I will start tomorrow’s race on soft tires, because here the distance to Turn 1 is short, it is clear that the start is important so I want to to be able to start clean and well, I don’t know what will happen from then on. It’s going to rain so it will be an exciting race. ”
Christian Horner (Team Representative)
“Today we had great teamwork from the drivers and they gave us a good result for the team. 3rd and 5th, very close to the front row. Max was with Bartelli (Bottus / Mercedes). It’s just a difference. 0.01 seconds, which gives me confidence on this course, which I know I can overtake: Mercedes has the qualifying advantage, but we have come close to it on a long course where we weren’t very good. So it’s a good Saturday The strategy for the two cars is a bit different: Max starts on medium tires, Alex starts on soft ones which gives us more options and of course Spaweather is hit or miss. There is always a possibility because I can think in mixed conditions and not I know what the tire degradation will be. It’s hard to attack Mercedes, but Max is a real fighter driver. Very encouraging. ”
