There is a possibility of a tsunami occurring over a wide area from the Pacific Ocean, such as Oceania to Central and South America. The Japan Meteorological Agency is investigating whether there is a tsunami in Japan.
There have been three earthquakes of M7 and above in New Zealand since last night.
Observed Tsunami Height (announced at 7:24 PTWC)
0.05m from Tonga Nuku’alofa
Additionally, tidal levels have changed by several tens of centimeters at tidal stations such as Norfolk Island, Australia.
Data are not available from the tidal level observation point near the epicenter and the situation is being investigated.
・ 3m or more
Kermadec Islands (New Zealand)
・ 1〜3m

Antarctica, Australia, Chile, Colombia, Cook Islands, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kosrae, Mexico, Nauru, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Pitcairn Islands, Pompeii, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Wallis Futuna
Although a strict comparison is not possible, it appears to be an earthquake equivalent to a seismic intensity of about 5 or more when converted to the Japan Meteorological Agency seismic intensity class.
Based on the analysis at the same site, the depth of the epicenter is about 20 km, and it appears to be a reverse fault type earthquake, which is presumed to be the mechanism by which tsunamis are likely to occur.
