The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced on the 25th that it has confirmed 618 new cases of coronavirus infection (986 people the day before). It has been less than 700 since December 28 of last year (481). The number of seriously ill patients was 148 (156).
Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato told a news conference that, although the number of infected people in each of the three prefectures is gradually decreasing, “there is a problem that we have to look at every day of the week.” In close cooperation with the local government, he said: “I want to end the infection as soon as possible so that I can get out of Stage 4 as soon as possible.”
Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga told the House of Representatives Budget Committee that vaccines are “the deciding factor in controlling infections. We want to quickly deliver safe and effective vaccines to the public.”
