On the 27th in Shizuoka prefecture, one person was confirmed dead and 60 people were infected with the new coronavirus. A total of 74 people died and a total of 4,399 people were confirmed infected. On the same day, the prefecture announced that some fifty samples that tested positive after early January were not confirmed as mutants in a genome scan by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases for mutants.

The prefecture confirmed with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. Testing includes PCR testing to detect mutant species and genome analysis to confirm. The government plans to analyze the genome of all samples. Among the samples already sent by the prefecture, there are more than 100 samples that have not been analyzed for the genome. Mikio Goto, head of the Prefecture’s Disease Control Division, said: “In December last year, I would like to send a newly found sample to clarify the infection status of the mutant species.”

Regarding the group (group of infected people) announced by the prefecture, four new infections were found at Toyoda Eisei Hospital in Iwata City, bringing the total to twenty-one. At Fuji Toranomon Orthopedic Hospital in Gotemba city, two new infections were discovered, bringing the total to seven.

In the eastern part of the prefecture, the city of Gotemba and the city of Fuji each had three people, the city of Numazu, the city of Mishima, the city of Izunokuni and the city of Fujinomiya each two people, and the city of Shimoda, Susono City, Izu City, Nishi Izu City, and Nagaizumi City each. The bed use rate in the eastern part of the prefecture was 55.6%.
