Japan will ban entry to foreign nationals after the Kovid-19 variant is found in the country


Japanese citizens and foreign residents can still enter, but they will have to self-immolate for 14 days, according to Japan’s public broadcaster NHK.

The move comes after the Tokyo metropolitan government on Saturday confirmed two new cases of Covid-19 variants that have recently returned from the UK.

The first two new cases were found outside the airport quarantine in the country.

On Friday, five other passengers from Britain were found with variants at Japan’s international airports.

The new coronavirus variant is said to have originated in the UK and is potentially more transmissible. Since its discovery, more than 40 countries have banned travel from the UK, and in some cases, travel to other countries that have registered documents with variants.
Starting Monday, for example, U.S. Therefore, all UK passengers will be required to take a negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours of boarding the flight. Passengers will also have to provide documentation of their laboratory results.
