James delivered a message of optimism last month between the coronavirus epidemic and the uncertain time of social change.

“There’s a lot to be upset about right now,” he wrote. ‘All my activist friends – especially those fighting for reasons that are not selective for them – are sure to take care of themselves. Get out in nature. Invest some time and energy in people who love you.

‘Remind yourself that there is still a goodness and order within this existence that goes beyond politics, skin pigmentation, man-made systems, viruses and anything else that produces a pressure suggestion on your phone.’

He further said: ‘Then keep fighting a good fight. But first make sure to love yourself … that’s enough to keep you connected to what motivates you and loves you back. ‘
