Liverpool midfielder James Milner has praised the performance of goalkeeper Alison Baker, while the Brazilian stopper has strongly defended against Newcastle to close out Season Clarke’s header.
Jugan Klopp’s side were frustrated by the goalless end of the game, as they watched him drop points against two contenders for the match in consecutive matches.
But Milner says the 1-1 draw at Anfield with West Brom improved performance a lot, with Allison’s late vicissitudes stopping what would have been an inevitable defeat.
“I think it was a big improvement [on West Brom]. “We have given everything to get points, we have come up against two very stubborn teams,” Milner told Liverpool’s official website.
“At least we did well. Unfortunately, it wasn’t good enough for three issues, but we have to keep up the pressure.
“We have created enough opportunities, [were] Solid in the back, any balls that came out we won.
“But the difference was good goalkeeping, defense, a mix of a little bad luck and maybe not taking our chances enough.
“It’s important that you just keep moving, be patient and make sure you’re moving forward.
“Sometimes it’s easy to get frustrated and try a hard ball or a very straight ball at the top and it’s cut.
“We banned him from playing most of the game but Ali is top-class – everyone knows. Especially tonight, like tonight, it’s getting too cold for him to be what I can imagine. .
“Then defending this way towards the end – it shows how good he is and how big a player he is for us.”
