Check-in after 9 am, rescheduled hours, afternoon shifts – these are possible changes for high school, but only if “critical situations” occur. The clarification comes in a circular that yesterday the head of the Department of the Ministry of Education, Marco Bruschi, sent to school officials and directors of regional school offices to clarify what will really change for schools with the entry into force of the new DPCM.Basically, nothing, at least not immediately: although the schools decree will be applicable from tomorrow, there is no “automatism”, the note specifies.
Staggered admissions
“Any intervention in the school organization will be carried out only in the case of critical situations or of special risk”, situations that must be “communicated by the health authorities or local authorities”: and in any case they cannot be adopted independently , but only “after sharing the changes in the regional and local tables with the school offices, provided for by the so-called” School Plan “, issued last June and also approved by the Regions. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte’s press conference and the announcement of the new measures had perplexed principals, especially those in secondary schools. “The school is a fundamental asset,” Conte said Sunday evening, explaining that face-to-face lessons would continue for everyone and that some corrective measures would be introduced only for high school students, to avoid crowds in transportation. A few hours later, the Minister of Education, Lucía Azzolina, had reassured families and teachers by specifying, on Facebook, that the changes would take effect “in a few days”, not in a few hours, as many feared. And in fact the planned measures will be applied from tomorrow, but only in the presence of particular cases, as the ministry now points out. Time rescheduling, with a staggering of entries until the distribution of lessons in the afternoon shifts, will be one more “weapon” in the hands of the directors to reduce the presence of students on buses and the subway during peak hours. the morning. The same rule will apply to digital teaching.
Become classes
The provision released Sunday night speaks of “flexible ways in organizing educational activities”
and establishes that distance education can be increased, while still being complementary to face-to-face education. After all, the protocol for the reopening of the school already provided for integrated teaching, that is, teaching that contemplated moments in presence and moments at a distance: a solution that, for example, the governor of Veneto, Luca Zaia, backs out of wonder, out of fear. that school workers can “have something to say.” And in this sense, many institutes had already been organized, for example by organizing student shifts in classes, dividing them to respect distance, or installing special distance lessons in classrooms to transmit them to those at home. Above all to maintain the distance, which in many schools is not yet possible: single-seater desks, denounces the president of the National Association of Directors Antonello Giannelli, have not reached everyone everywhere. The DPCM also clarifies some doubts about how to manage collegiate bodies (such as class and school councils). The meetings of the collegiate bodies “may be held in person or remotely depending on the possibility of guaranteeing physical distance and, consequently, the safety of the summoned personnel.” While “the renewal of the collegiate bodies can occur remotely in compliance with the principles of secrecy and freedom to participate in elections.”
The tests for the competition
And the extraordinary competition? The trials are expected to begin on October 22 and there is no indication of a willingness to escape the ministry. But the suspension of educational activities in Campania, decided by Governor Vincenzo De Luca until October 31, could also call into question the exams. The request for postponement has also started from Sardinia: of the 5,000 applicants for the chair, more than half will have to travel to Lazio to take the tests. In recent days, the CTS had also approved the preventive measures adopted but the infections were not yet so high and the situation was much less worrying.
