Xbox Series S is awesome, but the name confuses gamers

[ad_1]

Xbox Series S is a surprise. Not in the sense that no one expected this console to exist (on the contrary, we had taken it for granted for weeks), but because the price and performance promised are incredible. Being able to access the new generation with only 299 euros is a dream for many. There is only one problem, the name.

As the most knowledgeable players know, the nomenclatures of the latest Xbox consoles are slightly similar. We have the Xbox One family of consoles (previous generation) and the Xbox Series family of consoles (new generation). Within each family there are two models: “S” is the cheapest, with the lowest performance hardware, while “X” is the high-quality one, for those looking for the top of the range.

Xbox Series X / S

The distinction seems easy to understand explained this way, but when an uninformed person is faced with Xbox Series X, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One S, you risk not knowing which one is “correct”.

Proof of this is the fact that, immediately after the announcement of the Xbox Series S and the leak of the Xbox Series X, “One X” ended up trending on Twitter, along with “Xbox One S”. Not a few users are struggling to keep up with the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S nomenclature – you can see examples below (and others in the tweet responses).

From the point of view of more knowledgeable gamers, like you readers, it may seem like a minimal or even non-existent problem, but all that side of the public that is not regularly informed or is even completely alien to the world of video games (think of a parent who never picked up a controller and has to buy the console for his children at Christmas) will have to sweat to know what to buy.

Probably many will only have a base price and, seeing 299 euros, they will stop worrying about game names and compatibility.

You can buy an Xbox One X on Amazon Italy.
