He is not yet thirty (he will be on October 28) Adam Serdiuchenko, the Ukrainian boy who lives in the apartment on the first floor of piazzale Libia 20 and is now intubated in Niguarda, with second and third degree burns in almost all the body, after the explosion that left his accommodation at 7.17am on Saturday.
He is a professional waiter (chef de rang) at the Martini Bistrot in corso Venezia 15 (the restaurant owned by Dolce and Gabbana), having held the same role in Milanese hotels such as Chateau Monforte and Bianca Maria Palace. In the past he also attended a course to become a maitre d ‘or head of the room. A career already underway, therefore, for Adam in the world of restoration, of which the young man is above all passionate, as can also be understood from his profiles on social networks.

The other seven injured are in less serious condition: a pregnant woman was taken to Mangiagalli for a check on her situation, while a 56-year-old woman suffered a head injury. The other people accompanied to the hospital do not. they did not raise any concerns about their condition.
The gas meter was seized
Now it seems certain that the explosion was caused by a gas leak. On Saturday the firefighters still did not want to express themselves with confidence but it is very likely that the escape began from the kitchen of the thirty-year-old. His apartment is destroyed, the entrance to the building is destroyed, and the first three floors are particularly damaged. The firefighters, on the recommendation of the prosecutor Tiziana Siciliano, have seized the apartment and also the methane gas meter, which would seem especially outdated.
Researchers, for the moment, tend to exclude that it was a voluntary gesture. The lifeguard is the driver of a van that was in the area: he ran in and, when he saw Adam in trouble in the apartment, he returned to his truck to get a blanket, wet it, and returned. in the palace to wrap the child and take him out; then, he reported, he went back in and turned off the gas.

Uninhabitable building
Firefighters continue to thoroughly examine the stability of the building, which, however, has been declared completely uninhabitable. Compared to the 54 habitual inhabitants, in 37 apartments, 49 were present at the time of the explosion, in 23 they requested accommodation and were placed in residences and hotels. How long is not yet known: maybe a week, maybe two. For residents it will be possible to return “in groups” to take personal effects but always under the careful supervision of firefighters, for safety reasons.
