Now here we are, only the finishing touches are missing and … the snow returns to the north! In fact, the post-Santo Stefano climate will be characterized by a gentle rise in air from the south, but, finding a significant cold cushion, the first part of the precipitation will be snowfall (as already announced).
For a few days our models had sniffed out the hypothesis and today we can begin to delineate accumulations.
The map that we show below (courtesy of meteologix) is NOT final, and is also subject to CHANGES, even moderate ones: but the concept does not change: it will be the second snow occasion in the same month, after the event from 2 to December 4, which has resulted in very large accumulations in some areas of the foothills.
Here’s an ESTIMATE:
1) Alps: even a meter of snow, if not more, in 4 days.
2) Upper Piedmont, area of the Lombardy lakes: between 20 and 50 cm, spread over 3 days
3) Ligurian Apennines and foothills: 20-60 cm, in 3 days.
4) Milanesa / Pavía: 10-15 cm, a little less in the heart of urban centers due to the heat island.
5) Turin / Asti / Vercelli: 5-10 cm.
Stay tuned for more weather updates!
