NEW DISTURBANCE TOWARDS ITALY. A new disturbance is coming to Italy in the course of Wednesday from the Tyrrhenian regions. On Friday it will have involved a large part of the Apennine mountain range and some alpine sectors, the latter a little less involved because it is too far south of its range of action. The cold air feeding the vortex from which the disturbance starts will favor snowfall at relatively low altitudes during the season., both in the Alps and in the north-central Apennines. Let’s see in detail:
SNOW WEDNESDAY. The first flakes will involve the Apennines and Wednesday 1600 m in the Tuscan-Emilian, 1700/1800 m in the Lazio-Abruzzese, at negligible altitudes in the southern Apennines. At night decisive intensification of the phenomena in the north-central Apennines, with snow at 1700 m in the Tuscan-Emilian sector, at higher altitudes elsewhere. In the Alps some jibs can reach the Maritimes, from about 1500m.
SNOW THURSDAY. The Apennines will continue to be the sector most affected by bad weather, with snowfalls ranging from 1700 / 1800m in the Tuscan-Emiliana, to 1800 / 1900m in the central one, decreasing in the afternoon. Maximum accumulations of fresh snow that in 48 hours can even exceed 20cm in the Tuscan-Emilian peaks, as in Monte Cimone. In the case of the Alps, there are only a few scales in the central-western ones, phenomena a little more frequent in the eastern between Trentino, Veneto and Friuli Dolomites, especially in the pre-Alpine belt, with a snow limit of 1300/1500 m.
SNOW FRIDAY. There is still some snow in the north-central Apennines above 1500/1700 m, but the phenomena gradually decrease at night, so much so that in the Weekend we will move towards more stable weather conditions.
